The brand name Walmart needs no introduction, but its history is not so well known. Sam Walton opened his first store in July 2, 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. Five years later, there were already 24 Walmart stores earning about $12.7 million in sales. In the 1970s, Sam Walton began to expand nationally. Walmart became a public traded company, and sold stocks at $16.50 per share. By 1972, Walmart was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. With 51 stores, Walmart was earning a record sale of $78 million. In the 1980s, Walmart continued in its road to success. The first Walmart Supercenter opened and the store reached its $1 billion mark in sales. It had around 276 stores in the country being manned by 21,000 associates. During the decade of the 90s, Walmart again reached a milestone: it was able to obtain a weekly sale of $1 billion. Walmart became the number one retailer in the nation. It began to expand to Canada and opened stores in Mexico, the UK, and China. At the turn of the millennium in 2002, Walmart topped the list of the Fortune 500 companies in America. In 2009, it again reached another significant milestone in its business operation, Walmart exceeded $400 billion in annual sales.

  1. HOW SOON CAN AN ORDER BE PLACE FOR AN EVENT? AND DO YOU HAVE TO PICK IT UP FROM YOUR CLOSEST LOCATION, ARE WHERE YOU PLACE THE OTHER?

  2. I was disappointed with the flavored wings platters I ordered for our church function from the Randallstown Walmart. For starters, despite placing my order one week in advance, they ran out of large size platters so 8 platters ended up being 24. Also there was no difference in the “flavors”, all of the wings were the same. The tops on some of the ranch dressing containers were not secure whereas the dressing was all over one of the trays while in transit as was the case with two of the platter covers that popped off one of them while in the checkout line. I would not recommend this Walmart for catering.

    1. Arthur,

      Thanks for sharing your feedback.

I am not sure if you knew, but Walmart will refund your order 100% if your are not happy with it. Just take your receipt to the customer service department and they should take care of it. Might vary on location, but hey it won’t hurt to try.

Again thanks for sharing your experience with us as it can help other users.

  3. Good evening. I am planning an event on Dec 17 would like to know the cost of a 50 piece fried chicken box and the 100 piece fried chicken box. Thanks!
